Time table

The INL playoffs are nearly upon us. As announced at the beginning of the season, we will be doing a three-round playoff; we have only recently decided on the exact format. Unlike in previous seasons, we are going to have a loser's bracket, so teams should be able to get a couple extra quality games in.

The two-sided bracket looks like this:

Consolation Loser First Round Semis Championship Game

                                  Division 1 #1
                                 / \
                            Loser Winner
                           / \ / \
                          / Division 2 #4 \
                  Winner < > Winner
                 / \ Division 2 #2 / \
                / \ / \ / \
               / Loser Winner \
              / \ / \
             / Division 1 #3 \
Consolation < > Champion
             \ Division 1 #2 /
              \ / \ /
               \ Loser Winner /
                \ / \ / \ /
                 \ / Division 2 #3 \ /
                  Winner < > Winner
                          \ Division 1 #4 /
                           \ / \ /
                            Loser Winner
                                 \ /
                                  Division 2 #1

For the first two rounds of the playoffs, the games will be played at the home server of the higher-seeded team. So, the Division 1 #1 vs. Division 2 #4 game will be played at the Division 1 #1's server, but if the Division 2 #4 team wins, the next game will be played at the home server of the Division 2 #2 team (assuming they beat Division 1 #3).

The final game will be played on a neutral server. Grey Elf's neutral-server team-choosing rules will apply; one team is defined as the away team, and the "home" team can request galaxy resets until they're satisfied with the planet layout. Then, team selection proceeds as normal.

As a reminder, the season is scheduled to end this Sunday at 23:59 Pacific time.

There is currently one extension request under consideration, but we are short on time, so everyone really should try to get their games done this week.
